The Global Fixed Income Division (GFID) is responsible for all fixed income capital-raising activities. It conducts business across the whole credit spectrum on every continent. GFID delivers fixed income brokerage and market-making services, securitisations and structured financings to local and foreign institutions and retail clientele. These services include:

 

  • Order taking and filling;
  • Trading bonds, money market instruments, interest rate products, asset-backed securities and other fixed income and derivative products around the world;
  • Providing electronic connectivity networks for qualified institutions to provide direct market access where applicable;
  • Committing firm capital to provide liquidity to clients on a market-making basis;
  • Assisting the markets in continuous price discovery by constantly providing two-way quotes on all securities covered, based on in-house research;
  • Via a joint venture with the Company’s Investment Banking Group (namely, Debt Capital Markets), executing the secondary markets aspect of debt financings, syndicated loans, sovereign and corporate bonds, commercial paper, municipal bonds etc;
  • Developing trading models and algorithms, for both proprietary and client use;
  • Utilising in-house research reports to generate trading ideas;
  • Engaging in sovereign treasury stock sales and trading;
  • Structuring and entering into a wide variety of derivative transactions in other markets;
  • Investing in stressed or distressed fixed income securities;
  • Engaging in proprietary trading and arbitrage activities;
  • Development and implementation of strategies to maximise returns from dormant or illiquid assets.
