The Global Equities Division (GED) oversees the Firm’s activities in the primary equity and equity-linked markets. GED assists clients in managing their communication with equity markets before and after transactions. The Division’s activities include equities trading, initial public offering, secondary placements and other equity-related transactions. GED is comprised of professionals who have superior execution capabilities and extensive experience in the global equities business.

These professionals provide a full range of equity and equity-linked sales and trading services, including sophisticated portfolio analytics and electronic trading. The team’s extensive prime brokerage services include transaction and portfolio financing, stock lending and clearing, settlement, reporting and custody.

The group is mandated to provide market-related financial and investor-relations advice. It delivers equities brokerage and market-making services to local and foreign institutions and retail clientele. These services and functions include:

Order taking and filling;

  • Providing electronic connectivity networks for qualified institutions to provide direct market access where applicable;
  • Committing firm capital to provide liquidity to clients on a market-making basis;
  • Assisting the markets in continuous price discovery by constantly providing two-way quotes on all securities covered, based on in-house research;
  • Via a joint venture with the Company’s Investment Banking Group (namely, Equity Capital Markets), executing the secondary markets aspect of IPOs and hybrid financings;
  • Engaging in proprietary trading and equity arbitrage opportunities;
  • Developing trading models and algorithms, for both proprietary and client use;
  • Utilising in-house research reports to generate trading ideas.
